EU importers of steel, aluminum, cement, fertilizer, hydrogen and electricity pay for the carbon in those goods.
Importers now pay for embedded emissions through CBAM certificates, at about €75 per tonne.
Emissions per product and production route, precursor emissions, and any carbon price you already paid.
CBAM is expanding into finished goods, with 180 to 457 steel and aluminum-heavy products proposed.
“What’s the status on the CBAM?”
Your EU customers need your data to file. If you can't answer, they'll find a supplier who can.
Default values cost your customer more
No data means marked-up EU defaults, and that cost lands in your next price talk.
A complex new EU template
Production routes, precursors, electricity and supplier data, in a spreadsheet most teams have never seen.
Without verified data, importers pay default values set high on purpose. See what CBAM default values cost per tonne →
Utility, production and supplier data turned into emissions per product.
We fill it in and keep the audit trail verifiers ask for.
Our supplier data library and outreach replace estimates and defaults.
Real data makes you cheaper to import than competitors on defaults.
Plan projects that cut embedded emissions, then track actual savings.
A dedicated specialist and automated data.
Same data for CDP, EcoVadis, customer surveys and SB 253.

CBAM RESOURCE
Does CBAM apply to North American exporters?
Not directly. The EU importer is responsible for filing and paying. But the importer needs your product-level emissions data to do it, so if you sell covered goods into the EU, your customers will ask you for it. If you can't provide it, they must use default values, which usually cost more.
